Window and Door Maintenance Tip
WD-40 vs Silicone Spray WD-40 has 2000+ uses. From gum and crayon removal to preventing rust and loosening old, stuck and already-rusty parts but, for new door rollers a silicone spray lubricant is a better solution. Door Rollers WD-40 contains solvents that will dissolve and remove the grease that has been applied to door rollers at the factory. The purpose of this grease is to provide a durable lubricant for the ball bearings in the roller. Therefore, it is recommended that WD-40 should not be used on new rollers, but rather use a silicone spray if lubrication is required. For older rollers that already show signs of corrosion, try the WD-40. But first, clean the roller tracks with a vacuum. If it still doesn't roll well you will likely need to remove the door and replace the rollers.
